My Happy Place

I have 3 of these (Not counting time with special people).
#1 Just lying on the water at Santos Beach.
#2 Experiencing the presence of God.
#3 Creating – anything, whether it is beautiful or a complete mess.

Usually the water at Santos is wave free and peaceful. I love swimming a bit further where there is no one but me, and God. Or so it feels, no distractions, no toil, just peace. Here I find courage and refreshment, and often clarity. It is here where I am in awe of God’s workmanship, that I may enjoy what He has made, for free. It is here where I am light enough to lie on water, where my weight is accepted by the water and there is no shame.

My second Happy place is not really a physical place, but rather there where the supernatural breaks into our space and time. I love church. I love to see how God loves His church. I love to see His voice when He speaks.
Any other power than the power of God is temporary and does not satisfy. Why does God still heal, deliver and love us? So that we may know Him and be with Him. He is all powerful and creative and where He is, is life.

To create was always a desire, but not always possible. Growing up in a generation where art was not seen as real work, I never really had confidence in my abilities and did not really give myself permission to do it properly. Yes, there has been seasons, but it never provided a sufficient income. And in the seasons where it did provide income I became like a sausage machine. Painting in bulk so that I can provide “cheap” artwork.
I love to paint what the Lord shows me, and when He involves Himself with it and speaks through it, THAT place is happy. I love to play with clay and colour and trying new things. Perhaps I am not ready for adulting yet.
I am also very good at creating chaos, now THAT is not a good place. Its so hard to undo something is it not? The problem with my creativity is that it does not have an end – I hardly complete what I start. So this is my challenge, to allow the Lord to help with the chaos and to mimic Him – He is the ultimate Finisher.
